Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Des Moines, IA is seeking a part-time Patient Experience Assistant to welcome visitors and provide information and directions. Under supervision of Manager of Patient Experience, you will support visitors, patients, families, and staff with a friendly, helpful presence and maintain confidentiality.

Rotating shift and part-time hours. You will direct, escort and transport visitors as needed, provide resource materials, and assist with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Postsecondary education preferred.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
• 1+ year of Customer Service experience demonstrating emotional intelligence, proactivity, inquisitiveness, resourcefulness, compassion, and the ability to work autonomously; basic computer skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Experience working in healthcare setting preferred.

POSITION PURPOSE Under the supervision of the Manager of Patient Experience, exhibits and models a welcoming, helpful and caring presence while delivering specific information, directions and assistance to patient(s), families, visitors and staff within MercyOne.

Essential Functions

• Creates a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors and clients.
• Models excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and professional abilities when interacting with all persons.
• Directs, guides, accompanies and/or transports persons to various sites, locations and areas within Mercy Medical Center, along with offering resource materials and general informational assistance.
• Maintains the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of professionals, patients and their families, coworkers, medical staff, and the public while performing general summary details.
• Explains and assists in the implementation of hospital policies and procedures for visitors, patients, and the public.
• Demonstrate appropriate and effective written, verbal, and nonverbal communication.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding all patients and personnel information.
• Supports and actively engages with MercyOne volunteers to foster a welcoming environment, enhance their experience, and ensure alignment with organizational values and goals.
• Performs other secretarial/clerical functions as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
