C&N Mechanical Services, LLC is seeking an HVAC Conceptual Estimator to develop early-stage project estimates using project information and principles of mechanical systems. The role supports leadership, project teams, and clients by producing conceptual budgets, scope outlines, and risk considerations before detailed engineering begins.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of HVAC systems, cost data, and construction sequencing, with experience applying estimates to guide project

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HVAC or mechanical estimating experience.
• Experience with conceptual estimating software or cost-modeling tools.
• Background in mechanical contracting, estimating, engineering, or project management.
• Familiarity with design-build and plan-and-spec delivery methods.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

C&N Mechanical Services, LLC is seeking an HVAC Conceptual Estimator to develop accurate, early-stage project estimates using available project information. This position will apply knowledge of mechanical systems, construction practices, estimating, and project development to support leadership, project teams, and clients.

The HVAC Conceptual Estimator will develop conceptual budgets, scope outlines, and risk considerations that help guide project decisions before detailed engineering begins.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual estimates for HVAC and mechanical projects using drawings, project narratives, site walks, historical data, and engineering principles.


• Evaluate project feasibility by identifying scope gaps, assumptions, risks, and value-engineering opportunities.


• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and business development teams to align estimates with installation practices and current market conditions.


• Prepare clear written deliverables, including basis-of-estimate documents, scope summaries, and budget breakdowns.


• Participate in client and internal meetings to clarify project intent, validate assumptions, and refine project direction.


• Maintain cost databases and benchmarking tools to improve estimating accuracy and consistency.


• Support the transition of projects to operations by communicating assumptions, constraints, and design intent as projects advance.


• Apply a strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and construction sequencing throughout the estimating process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in HVAC or mechanical estimating, engineering, or field operations.


• Experience with conceptual estimating software or cost-modeling tools.


• Background in mechanical contracting, estimating, engineering, or project management.


• Familiarity with design-build, plan-and-spec, and negotiated project delivery methods.


• Ability to work across multiple divisions and support early-stage business development efforts.


• Strong judgment and the ability to make informed decisions when project information is limited or ambiguous.


• Clear written and verbal communication skills.


• Strong documentation and organizational skills.


• Ability to collaborate effectively with field, engineering, operations, and leadership teams.


• Interest in understanding systems, costs, constructability, and project feasibility.
