Job summary

Techtronic Industries - TTI in Anderson, SC is seeking an Engineering professional for the Advanced Concepts group. You will ideate, prototype and test concepts for cordless power tools and related products, working with industrial designers and engineers to evaluate feasibility and guide later development.

The role emphasizes hands‑on prototyping, design optimization, and collaboration across diverse teams to deliver functional concepts and tangible demos for brand leaders like RYOBI and RIDGID.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 0–3 years’ experience in design, prototyping, or test-fixture development.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and fabrication methods.
  • Hands-on fabrication experience (3D printing, woodworking, metalworking).
  • Electronics experience with Arduino or Raspberry Pi is a plus.
  • Understanding of power, speed, and torque metrics.
  • Experience with vibration and sound measurement equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ideate and create prototypes that demonstrate future solutions for product needs.
  • Ideate and create demos showcasing product performance and features.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional team including Industrial Designers and Engineers.
  • Build and manage budget, schedule, and quality to meet milestones.
  • Communicate technical details to both technical and non‑technical teammates.

Come join the team at Techtronic Industries, the world leader in cordless technology spanning Power Tools, Outdoor Power Equipment, Floor Care Appliances and Accessories. We currently have an open Engineering position in the Advanced Concepts group at our Anderson, SC office.

About Advanced Concepts

Advanced Concepts is an interdisciplinary innovation group of designers and engineers within the Power Tool division, tasked with developing cutting‑edge concepts for brands such as RYOBI and RIDGID. You will work hand and hand with other Advanced Concepts team members, as well as engineering, industrial design, analytical, and project management groups to deliver functional prototypes that can be evaluated for feasibility or concept recommendations that can be used for later product development. Your day‑to‑day activities will include brainstorming, designing and building prototypes, feasibility testing, and concept refinement. We are a very hands‑on group that thrives on learning through our diverse projects to create new and innovative products.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ideate and create prototypes that demonstrate future solutions for future product needs.
  • Ideate and create demos showcasing our products’ performance and features.
  • Work with cross‑functional team that includes Industrial Designers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
  • Build and manage budget, schedule, and quality expectations to meet key milestones.
  • Communicate technical details and concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in design, prototyping, and/or test fixture development.
  • 3D CAD experience.
  • Experience with hands‑on fabrication methodologies (3D printing, woodworking, metal working).
  • Experience with electronics including Arduino and Raspberry PI is a plus.
  • Understanding of key performance metrics such as power, speed, and torque.
  • Experience with measurement equipment for vibration & sound is a plus.
  • An eye for aesthetically pleasing designs is a plus.
