Job summary

The University System of Maryland Office seeks a Professional Development Specialist to lead statewide K–12 and higher education computing education PD. You will design, deliver, and evaluate workshops, coach teachers, and support LMS operations across USM programs.

You will collaborate with state education partners, manage event logistics, ensure CEU/CPD credits, and contribute to data-driven program improvements. A 1-year contract with renewal is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Computer Science, STEM, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or related field.
• Five years of experience in education, CS/STEM education, instructional design, or related P–20 fields.
• Experience designing, facilitating, and supporting in-person and online professional development for educators or adult learners.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, or providing implementation support to K–12 educators.
• Experience coordinating programs, events, or PD activities including scheduling, registration, and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Designs, facilitates, and evaluates professional development workshops and learning communities for K–12 and higher education educators.
• Collaborates with MSDE on CS standards and revisions.
• Delivers training on computing pedagogy, equity strategies, and educational technology.
• Provides mentoring and coaching to teachers to support instructional improvement.
• Manages workshops and activities, including logistics, registration, and communications.
