Responsibilities

  • Deploy, manage, and maintain district devices (Chromebooks, laptops, tablets) and peripherals for the 1-to-1 program.
  • Staff the HelpDesk and resolve assigned tickets for staff and students promptly.
  • Set up, install, configure, and maintain workstation hardware and software upgrades.
  • Ensure software compliance and license adherence across district systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of desktop hardware and peripherals.
  • Provide on-site user support and diagnose technical issues across district facilities.
  • Maintain detailed service records and asset management in the ticketing system.
  • Flexible in taking on additional duties as directed by IT leadership.
  • Lift and move devices up to 50 lbs; operate in environments requiring bending and climbing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF COMPUTER TECHNICIAN I
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Troubleshooting Proficiency: Demonstrated capability in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network connectivity, and peripheral issues.
  • Learning Ability: Willingness to learn new systems and technology.
  • Confidentiality & Ethics: Proven commitment to handling sensitive district data, student records, and confidential matters professionally and ethically.
  • Organization & Prioritization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to adjust work priorities dynamically based on ticket urgency and district needs.
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work late hours, irregular schedules, or overtime beyond the regular 40-hour workweek as needed during major rollouts or technical emergencies.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License: Required for travel between district school buildings.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical school study in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience providing IT HelpDesk support or hands‑on technical assistance (or equivalent coursework/training).
  • Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), or Google IT Support Professional Certificate.

REPORTS TO: Director of Information and Instructional Technology

Supervisory Oversight: IT Office Manager

JOB GOALS: The Computer Technician I serves as a core member of the District IT team, providing front‑line HelpDesk triage, hardware/software troubleshooting, and general technical support across district facilities. The primary goal is to ensure the reliability and uptime of instructional technology—specifically supporting the District’s 1‑to‑1 initiative—while resolving end‑user requests in a timely, professional, and ethical manner. CTI works directly with and takes assignments from the IT Office Manager.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 1‑to‑1 Program Support: Deploy, manage, and maintain devices (e.g., Chromebooks, laptops, tablets) and peripheral hardware powering the district's 1‑to‑1 student device program.
  • HelpDesk Operations & Support: Staff the District HelpDesk, responding to and resolving assigned service tickets for staff and students in a timely manner.
  • Systems Deployment & Upgrades: Set up, install, configure, and maintain district workstation hardware, operating systems, and routine software upgrades.
  • Software Compliance & Maintenance: Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot desktop applications while ensuring strict adherence to software license requirements and district standards.
  • Hardware Repair & Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, diagnostic testing, and component repair for desktop/laptop computers, printers, network peripherals, and related hardware.
  • End‑User & On‑Site Support: Assist district personnel by diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, network cabling/wiring, and peripherals across district school buildings.
  • Service Records & Asset Management: Maintain detailed logs of completed repairs, equipment inventory, software licenses, and service requests within the district ticketing system.
  • Adaptability & Additional Duties: Perform other related technical or administrative tasks as assigned by the Director of IT or IT Office Manager, with flexible adaptation to shifting work scope.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 lbs. of IT equipment (computers, monitors, UPS units, printer paper boxes) without restrictions. Ability to stoop, bend, crawl under desks, and climb step ladders for wiring and hardware maintenance.
  • Other Duties: Other duties as may be delegated from time to time by the supervisor and the supervisor may make any adjustment in the scope of responsibilities outlined above.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month basis. Salary and working calendar to be approved by the Board.
