SALARY: 2024 $59,648; NYS Retirement; Health, Dental, Vision Benefits; Paid Time Off; CSEA Union; Yearly Increases
LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs - City Hall
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly detailed on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form:
Either:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Data Processing, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, VM Ware, or a related field, and ONE (1) YEAR full-time paid experience involving maintenance, installation of computer hardware and software, and configuration of networks and/or VMWare;
- Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in the same fields and THREE (3) YEARS full-time paid experience involving maintenance, installation of computer hardware and software, and configuration of networks and/or VMWare;
- High school diploma or equivalency diploma and FIVE (5) YEARS full-time paid experience involving maintenance, installation of computer hardware and software, and configuration of networks and/or VMWare.
NOTE:
- Certification of VMWare can substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Certificate of Network Administration can substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- APLUS Certificate can substitute for one (1) year of experience.
SPECIAL NOTE:
- If operating automotive equipment during installation, testing, diagnostics, or repair, the employee must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License.
- BACKGROUND CHECK: Applicants will undergo a criminal history background check, fingerprint check, and/or polygraph test. Failure to meet standards may result in disqualification.
DUTIES: This technical position involves coordinating computer activities, services, and functions in the Department of Public Safety. The incumbent provides staff support, including equipment installation and maintenance of local and wide area networks. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Police Chief and direct supervision by the Microcomputer Systems Manager. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this position. The incumbent performs related work as required.
