POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is required for the Technical Support of the Automated Fare Collection Systems (MetroCard/OMNY) for AFC/BE Maintenance. This includes process reviews and system validations pertaining to the design, testing, installation and maintenance of MetroCard/OMNY, their sub‑components, and the development of Maintenance Procedures that assure compliance with design specifications and internal operating procedures and practices; oversight of software and hardware product evaluations for current and NFPS Technology; testing and evaluating software releases, investigating and analyzing failures and AFC anomalies related to ongoing maintenance activities. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining comprehensive training programs for the continued development of MetroCard/OMNY Maintainers and Supervisors, reviewing and commenting on the OMNY project design documents and drawings, attending design review meetings, participating in field surveys, hardware and software testing, hardware installations, modifications and upgrades.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in computer science or a related computer field, and two years of satisfactory full‑time computer software experience in computer systems development and analysis, applications programming, database administration, maintenance and support, systems programming, data communications, mainframe development, mobile development, web development and design, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
  • Afour‐yearhighschooldiplomaoritseducationalequivalentandsixyearsof satisfactoryfull timecomputersoftwareexperienceasdescribedinʺ1ʺabove, includingoneyearinaprojectleadercapacityorasamajorcontributorona complexproject;or
  • Educationand/orexperienceequivalenttoʺ1ʺorʺ2ʺabove.Collegeeducationmaybesubstitutedforuptotwoyearsoftherequiredexperienceinʺ2ʺabove onthebasisthat60semestercreditsfromanaccreditedcollegeisequatedto oneyearofexperience.Amaster’s degree in computer scienceorarelated computerfield,oracertificateofatleast625hoursincomputerprogramming fromanaccreditedtechnicalschool(posthighschool),maybesubstitutedfor oneyearoftherequiredexperienceinʁ1ʺorʁ2ʺabove.However,allcandidatesmusthaveatleastafour‐yearhighschooldiplomaoritseducationalequivalentandatleastoneyearofsatisfactoryfull‐timeexperienceinaprojectleadercapacityorasamajorcontributoronacomplexproject.
DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with information systems development.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Fare Payment Systems is a plus
  • Ability to work with varying degrees of supervision in teams
  • Ability to set priorities while working on several Projects simultaneously within limited time frames
  • Component level troubleshooting and repair is a plus

Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
