Job summary

Oklahoma State University Stillwater campus is seeking a Computer Specialist in the College of Arts and Sciences IT department. You will support technology operations across administration, departments, labs, and classrooms.

The role involves providing analysis, support, and training on Windows, macOS, Linux, peripherals, and multimedia equipment; and you will perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree progress may be required depending on level.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED with progression to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree or progress toward bachelor's degree required/preferred depending on level.

Responsibilities

About this Position

The Computer Specialist is an integral role within the College of Arts and Sciences IT department. The position will:

  • Provide creative solutions for technology operations within the College of Arts & Sciences administration, academic departments, instructional computing labs, and multimedia classrooms.
  • Provide analysis, support, and training for technology-related issues to college and department personnel. Technologies supported include Windows, Macintosh, Linux, consumer and professional grade peripherals, and presentation equipment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Computer Specialist I: HS/GED and six years related experience with requirement to receive bachelor's degree within six years of hire OR Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience.
  • Computer Specialist II: HS/GED and eight years related experience and demonstrated progress toward bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree and three years of related experience.
  • Computer Specialist III: HS/GED and ten years related experience and demonstrated progress toward bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree and five years of related experience.
  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
  • Experience with multiple computer platforms and operating systems, client-based networking software (TCP/IP), MS Office, Outlook, internet browsers, peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners), and multimedia equipment (e.g. projectors, document cameras).
  • Ability to follow manuals, read and interpret complicated instructions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability and desire to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Technology-related areas
  • Bachelor's Degree and five years related experience OR High school and 10 years related experience and demonstrated progress toward Bachelor's degree

A+ Certification, Net+ Certification, Microsoft certifications, Apple certifications
