Duties
- Performs developmental of moderate difficult computer architectural work assignments utilizing computer science and engineering techniques to develop skills in planning, implementing, and coordinating the computing architectural efforts through the introduction to the phases of the software and system life cycle in accordance with accepted Computer Science practices.
- Performs recurring technical assignments to defined security standards where few problems are expected to arise with guidance from supervisor, implements software development solutions based on existing implementation plans developed in concert with SMEs.
- Performs software and system development and troubleshooting as directed by the supervisor or team lead.
- Reviews current status information pertinent to software and system efforts and their associated plans and schedules.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT A bachelor’s degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
You may qualify if you meet one of the following:
- GS-7: You must have completed or will complete a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in one of the following: a) Class standing-upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision. b) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. c) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (note: freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Professional operations research knowledge to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, process and/or operational problems and procedures.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to senior analysts.
- Ability to perform extensive inquiry into basic data to discover facts or fundamental relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications.
Education
