Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or CNC certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CNC programs; basic understanding of G-code is beneficial.
• Experience in turning and milling, with capability to interpret detailed specifications.

Responsibilities

Role Description The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist is a full-time, on-site role located in Los Alamos, NM. The CNC Machinist sets up, operates, and monitors CNC machines to produce parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders. Daily tasks include interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling, loading materials, and adjusting machine settings to achieve precise dimensions and finishes. The role involves inspecting parts for accuracy using measurement tools, performing routine machine maintenance, and documenting production and quality results. The CNC Machinist collaborates with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot machining issues, improve processes, and maintain a safe, organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in machine operation and CNC machinery setup, including safe start-up, monitoring, and shutdown procedures.
• Experience in machining processes, such as turning and milling, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and work from detailed specifications.
• Strong quality control skills, including dimensional inspection, use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges), and documentation of results.
• Familiarity with general machinery operation and routine maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and workplace safety.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CNC programs; basic understanding of G-code is beneficial.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a production environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in machining or CNC operations is preferred.
• Previous experience as a CNC Machinist or in a similar manufacturing role is highly beneficial.
