Job summary

University of Florida is seeking an Academic Advisor I to provide undergraduate advising for computer engineering majors, guiding student progress and retention. The role collaborates with UF Registrar, Financial Aid, Counseling, and Career Resources to support students’ academic paths and career placement.

The incumbent will oversee transfer admissions, coordinate orientation, and engage with community colleges to facilitate transfer to UF.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, counseling, or academic field related to the college OR Bachelor's degree in similar fields with one year of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Master of Science degree.
  • Experience in advising and counseling students at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining electronic databases.
  • Working knowledge of University of Florida regulations and procedures to facilitate recruitment.
  • Ability to interface with faculty, students, and staff in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide undergraduate advisement for Computer Engineering majors, guiding progress and retention.
  • Oversee transfer admissions for computer engineering majors with Undergraduate Student Affairs.
  • Assist with course planning information and graduation documentation coordination.
  • Interpret and apply educational and administrative policies to improve advisement and operations.
  • Stay current professionally through workshops and associations such as NACADA.

Education

Master's degree in education/counseling
Bachelor's degree with 1 year related experience
