Job summary

University of Connecticut is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor 2 on the Storrs campus to support engineering students across multiple departments. This hybrid role involves on-campus and limited remote work, with responsibilities around degree progress, course selection, and policy interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have advising experience, strong communication skills, and a collaborative approach to student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master’s preferred for higher education, counseling, or related field.
• Experience in direct advising, coaching, and/or counseling with a focus on academic growth/needs.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; able to relate to students, families, and campus partners.
• Experience supporting STEM undergraduate students and understanding their academic rigor.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for the Engineering Undergraduate Center with intake and center-related responsibilities.
• Advise students on curriculum choices, major/minor changes, and scheduling.
• Develop tailored programs to assist diverse student populations and support retention.
• Create and review plans of study to align with degree progress and degree requirements.
• Communicate with faculty, administrators, and other partners to ensure student success and strong advising practices.
• Assist in recruitment and retention initiatives and maintain student records.
