Job summary

Winsted, a leader in control room solutions, is seeking a CAD Designer in Eagan, MN to draft and develop layout and assembly drawings for technical furniture and control rooms. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales to push designs from concept to production.

Responsibilities include producing conceptual layouts, detailing existing and new products, revising drawings, and maintaining BOMs with revision control while applying GD&T standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or completion of related technical trade school courses, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of CAD drafting or design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting, detailing, and layout).
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical design and drafting practices.
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce manufacturing drawings, including sheet metal, weldment, and casework details.

Job description

The CAD Designer creates the technical drawings that drive the manufacturing, assembly, and installation of Winsted control room consoles and technical furniture, as well as the architectural room layouts. Working primarily in AutoCAD, you will produce conceptual layouts and detailed component and assembly drawings, modify standard designs to meet specific customer requirements, and develop illustrations for technical publications and work instructions.

This is a hands‑on drafting and design role at the center of how Winsted products get built. You will work daily with mechanical engineers, manufacturing, and the sales team, and your drawings become the reference document for production. The role calls for accuracy, a sense of urgency, and a strong customer focus, and is a key resource to both the Engineering and Sales departments.

Primary Responsibilities

• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis
• Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to work directly with sales, manufacturing, and customers

Preferred Experience

• Experience with SolidWorks or another 3D parametric modeling package
• Casework or cabinet design experience, preferably with dedicated cabinet design software
• Familiarity with Revit, Inventor, or SketchUp for architectural room layouts
• Background in the AV, broadcast, security, or control room industry

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Primarily an office-based role
• Extended periods of computer work, including prolonged sitting and repetitive keyboard and mouse use
• Occasional lifting of up to [25] pounds

Starting salary range: $50,000 – $62,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a good‑faith estimate of the compensation Winsted expects to pay for this position at the time of posting.
