Job summary

Clarkston Medical Imaging Department is seeking a Certified CT Technologist to perform CT scans and support outpatient imaging services. You will prepare patients, position them correctly, and ensure high-quality images to meet physician orders.

Role requires ARRT radiography certification and AMA-approved radiology schooling, with BLS current. The department emphasizes safety, documentation, and the potential to assist other radiology areas as needed.

Qualifications

  • Certified CT Technologist or willingness to cross-train to CT within 12 months.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology.
  • ARRT certification in general radiologic technology.
  • Current BLS certification valid for at least 60 days beyond start date.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history, explains procedures and addresses concerns to comfort patients.
  • Operates and maintains CT imaging equipment and related devices.
  • Positions patients and explains the process to capture the requested images.
  • Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications within scope of practice.
  • Performs QA and upholds radiation safety to minimize exposure.
  • Maintains documentation, logs, and records in paper and electronic formats.
  • Keeps imaging consumables stocked and ready for use.
  • Performs routine maintenance and checks on imaging equipment per protocol.
  • May assist other radiology areas as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary:

Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
  2. Operates and maintains all assigned imaging department equipment including but not limited to tomography scanner equipment.
  3. In addition to conducting scans, prepares patients for these diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
  4. Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  5. Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.
  6. Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
  7. Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
  8. Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
  9. May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.

10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Clarkston Medical Imaging Department:
  • No in-patient population
  • 21 bed ED
  • Non-Trauma Center
  • Stroke Certified
  • Outpatient Schedule goes from 7:00am - 6:15pm

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Certified as a Computed Tomography Technologist
  • If not CT Certified, cross training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology
  • Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
Required for Lead:
  • Certified as CT Technologist
Preferred:
  • Associate degree in radiology
