Job summary

MyMichigan Health is hiring a CT Technologist in West Branch, MI, to assist radiologists with imaging procedures including computed tomography studies. Job description

Summary

$30,000 Bonus available for qualified candidates.

This position assists the radiologist and other physicians with high quality, computerized tomographic and radiographic images required in part for the diagnosis and treatment of patients while ensuring the least amount of radiation exposure to oneself and the patient. Provides general care to the patient while in the department.

Responsibilities
  • (25%) Performs computed tomography studies following protocol. Is able to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and will tailor exams in accordance with patient history obtained, protocol, and radiologist instruction.
  • (25%) Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures according to protocols. Follows departmental protocol and institution guidelines for delivery of IV contrast material. Monitors patients physical and mental condition throughout the entire procedures. Records any and all patient data appropriately.
  • (25%) Provides radiation protection for patients, self and others using gonadal shielding and collimation where applicable. Document acknowledgment of scheduling as directed.
  • (25%) Performs nursing duties, including but not limited to the following: assisting the radiologist in the performance of sterile procedures, practicing sterile technique, obtain vital signs, obtain pertinent clinical history, and must be proficient in venous puncture. Will document any and all important data appropriately. Will be able to identify an allergic reaction or any other urgent medical condition and will notify and assist the radiologist in the treatment of such a situation.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares and maintains patient information and digital files in computerized database.
  • Performs clerical duties in the absence of clerical personnel.
  • Orients and trains new personnel and students to the departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Participates in quality assurance and CQI programs as needed.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned including assisting in other areas of the department as needed.
Certifications and Licensures
  • ARRT - Reg Radiologic Technologist (Required Equivalent Experience within 1 year of hire or transfer)
  • ARRT CT - ARRT CT (Required Equivalent Experience required within 3 years of hire or transfer date)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (Required Equivalent Experience within 1 month of hire or transfer)
Required Education

Associates Degree.

Equivalent Experience: Degree in Healthcare Related Field. One (1) year experience working as a CT technologist in a medical center or similar setting preferred. At least two (2) years experience working as a technologist in a medical center or similar setting preferred.

Experience, Training and Skills
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer, keyboard dexterity and RIS/PACS/HIS.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows.
  • May be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
Physical and Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions
  • Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined.
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
  • Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, maintain predictable attendance and stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
  • Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0‑33% of the workday) lift or carry 21‑50 lbs, frequently (34‑66% of the workday) 20 lbs, and constantly (67‑100% of the workday) 10 lbs.
