Job summary

Balyasny Asset Management L.P. is seeking a Compute Engineering Lead to own the on-premises compute platform.

This senior, hands-on leader will architect, implement, and govern compute infrastructure, working directly with Portfolio Managers and business stakeholders to meet their needs and enable efficient use of resources. You will scale and harden the environment, leverage open and closed source software, partner with developers, and participate in on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience with large-scale compute environments.
• 5+ years people management experience.
• Expert knowledge of Kubernetes from infra and application perspectives.
• Experience managing bare metal compute at scale.
• IP network performance tuning and routing experience.
• Comfortable writing Python.
• Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

BAM is building a world-class on-premises compute platform for its investment professionals and is looking for an engineering manager to own the compute infrastructure pieces of this. This senior, hands-on leader will own compute architecture, implementation and governance. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with Portfolio Managers and other business stakeholders to understand their needs and enable them to efficiently use on-premises compute resources.

As the Compute Engineering Lead at BAM, you will:

• Be the hands-on manager and leader of compute infrastructure.
• Scale and harden our compute infrastructure to provide a robust and resilient environment for researchers and investment professionals.
• Leverage both open and closed source software solutions.
