Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a senior ML scientist to apply, evaluate, and validate computational pathology approaches and imaging analytics for histopathology endpoints and spatial analyses. You will curate large imaging datasets, train deep learning models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design analytic strategies.

Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB and libraries like PyTorch, Pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, OpenSlide, OpenCV, MONAI, and Elastix is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • Advanced degree in quantitative disciplines is preferred.
  • Publication record in deep learning/ML/statistics, especially digital pathology.

Job Description
  • Apply, evaluate, and validate computational pathology approaches, advanced analytics, and computer vision tools for histopathological endpoints, imaging biomarkers, and spatial analyses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional scientific colleagues to design and execute analytic strategies.
  • Curate and prepare large imaging datasets; when needed, train or adapt targeted deep learning and pathology foundation models.
  • Improve imaging data management and workflows to increase reliability, efficiency, or scalability.
  • Communicate findings, progress, and recommendations via reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Lead assigned projects from planning through execution, QC, documentation, and delivery of outputs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree + 6 years’ experience
  • OR
  • Master’s degree + 4 years’ experience
Preferred Qualifications (highlights)
  • Advanced degree in quantitative discipline (CS, BE, Physics, Math, Statistics, or related).
  • Publication record in deep learning/ML/statistics, especially digital pathology.
  • Experience with medical image formats/large pathology images (WSI, CODEX, ST).
  • Strong Python and/or MATLAB; deep learning/image libraries (PyTorch, Pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, OpenSlide, OpenCV, MONAI, Elastix).
  • Experience with CNNs, segmentation/classification, and transformer-based models; classical ML (Logistic Regression, Random Forest, SVM).
  • Knowledge of optimization, registration, segmentation, classification, predictive modeling.
  • Experience with end-to-end ML/DL/AI projects and scientific communication.

Compensation/Benefits
  • Salary range: $146,540.00–$189,640.00; may include discretionary bonus/stock incentives, paid time off, and medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
