Job description

Join a leading Los Angels digital pathology solutions provider to own and scale our digital pathology applications portfolio. We’re hiring an experienced clinical applications lead to drive implementations, integrations, validation, and adoption of digital pathology systems across pathology, oncology, and anatomic pathology workflows.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead end‑to‑end deployment, optimization, and lifecycle management of digital pathology systems, including WSI viewers, image management, scanning hardware integrations, and AI/algorithm pipelines.
• Partner with pathology leadership, laboratory operations, IT infrastructure, clinical informatics, and vendors to define requirements, prioritize features, and create roadmaps.
• Manage vendor relationships and SOWs; evaluate new technologies and coordinate pilots/proof‑of‑concepts.
• Oversee system integration with LIS/PACS/EMR (HL7, DICOM, FHIR), single sign‑on, and data feeds; troubleshoot production issues and coordinate incident response.
• Own validation, verification, and regulatory documentation for clinical use (validation plans, test scripts, traceability matrices).
• Design and deliver training, go‑live support, and ongoing end‑user adoption programs for pathologists and lab staff.
• Implement monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and data governance practices for pathology images and metadata.
• Mentor junior application analysts, establish best practices, and contribute to cross‑functional clinical IT initiatives.

What we’re looking for (minimum qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting clinical laboratory or pathology applications, with 2 + years leading digital pathology or whole slide imaging (WSI) programs in a healthcare setting.
• Hands‑on experience with digital pathology solutions (scanners, image‑management platforms, viewers) and familiarity with major vendors.
• Demonstrated knowledge of LIS, PACS, EMR integrations and standards (HL7, DICOM, FHIR).
• Experience writing or overseeing validation protocols and meeting regulatory/compliance requirements (CLIA, CAP).
• Strong project‑management skills and a proven record of running medium‑to‑large deployments with multiple stakeholders; PMP, Six Sigma, or similar certifications are a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate clinical needs to technical teams and drive clinician adoption.
• Ability to work on‑site in Los Angeles for key meetings, validations, and go‑lives.

Nice‑to‑haves

• Prior experience with pathology AI/algorithms and model deployment in clinical settings.
• Familiarity with image‑storage/archiving strategies, cloud deployments, and cybersecurity controls for PHI.
• Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell), SQL, or exposure to clinical data pipelines.
• Experience in academic medical centers or large health systems.

Salary and Benefits
