Job summary

Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport is seeking a Comptroller to assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing financial operations. This role supervises staff, ensures accurate accounting, and guarantees compliance with HUD and governmental regulations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accounting controls over general ledger, journals, and financial records.
  • Oversees monthly closing processes and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Prepares financial statements, board reports, and HUD-required reports.
  • Assists with year-end audits and prepares audit documentation.
  • Oversees payroll processing and tax reporting (e.g., 1099s).
  • Oversees daily financial operations and accounting systems.
  • Assists in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Monitors financial activity for compliance and audit readiness.
  • Prepares and submits HUD financial data through required systems.
  • Maintains financial records and ensures data accuracy.
  • Assists the CFO in financial planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Performs internal audits and reviews of financial procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Comptroller is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer in managing the financial operations of the Housing Authority of Shreveport and Bossier City. This position oversees accounting systems, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with HUD and governmental regulations. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise finance staff.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains accounting controls over general ledger, journals, and financial records
  • Oversees monthly closing processes and reconciliation of accounts
  • Prepares financial statements, board reports, and HUD-required reports
  • Assists with year-end audits and prepares audit documentation
  • Oversees compliance with payroll, accounts payable, and receivable functions
  • Oversees daily financial operations and accounting systems
  • Assists in budget preparation and financial forecasting
  • Monitors financial activity for compliance and audit readiness
  • Prepares and submits HUD financial data through required systems
