Job summary

Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport is seeking a Comptroller to assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing financial operations. This role supervises staff, ensures accurate accounting, and guarantees compliance with HUD and governmental regulations.

The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with financial reporting, audits, and payroll/tax controls. The Comptroller will prepare statements, board reports, and HUD submissions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of public housing authority operations and HUD regulations.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Ability to supervise and train finance staff.
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
• Ability to interpret financial data and prepare reports.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accounting controls over general ledger, journals, and financial records.
• Oversees monthly closing processes and reconciliation of accounts.
• Prepares financial statements, board reports, and HUD-required reports.
• Assists with year-end audits and prepares audit documentation.
• Oversees payroll processing and tax reporting (e.g., 1099s).
• Oversees daily financial operations and accounting systems.
• Assists in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
• Monitors financial activity for compliance and audit readiness.
• Prepares and submits HUD financial data through required systems.
• Maintains financial records and ensures data accuracy.
• Assists the CFO in financial planning and strategic initiatives.
• Performs internal audits and reviews of financial procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
