Qualifications

  • Requires 2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license/registration as required by state.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic to intermediate math and calculation abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacist with prescription compounding, preparation, and processing in line with policies and state regs.
  • Prepare medications for accurate compounding.
  • Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct dosages.
  • Review and inspect compounded/packaged medications for quality.
  • Ensure compounding and packaging are inspected and approved by a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods; clean and sanitize equipment.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate functioning.
  • Record and maintain pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs.
  • Train and mentor Compounding Technician I's.

Job Description Summary

Under the direction of a licensed Pharmacist, the compounding technician II works in a clean room compounding medication at least 50% of the time in order to help ensure safe, accurate, and smooth compounding operations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prescription Compounding, Preparation, & Processing – Assists pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with OCH policies & procedures, and in accordance with state regulations & standards.
  • Prepares medications so they are accurately compounded.
  • Performs basic pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct dosages of medications.
  • Assists with ensuring quality standards are met by reviewing and inspecting compounded & packaged medications.
  • Ensures all compounding and packaging is inspected and approved by a licensed pharmacist.
  • Site & Supplies/Equipment Maintenance – Ensures pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Calibrates equipment to ensure accurate functioning.
  • Assists with recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature & cleaning logs.
  • Training & Mentoring – Trains and mentors Compounding Technician I's.

Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) – Must be licensed or registered (if required by the state).
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Able to perform basic & intermediate level mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching.
  • Ability to carry at least 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs)
  • Previous healthcare or pharmacy technician experience.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Salary & Benefits

Due to state pay transparency laws, the full range for the position is below:

Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Pay Range is $20.47-$34.13.
