Job summary

Versova in Pasco, WA is seeking a full-time Compost Operator to operate and maintain the composting system for Fertilizer production. You will manage the composting process, maintain equipment, and ensure regulatory compliance.

This role requires experience with heavy machinery, adherence to biosecurity and GMP standards, and ability to work onsite around farm operations. The position offers competitive hourly pay $22.85-$28.57, health benefits, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license for fuel transportation
• 1 year of experience operating heavy machinery
• Ability to speak English; bilingual skills preferred
• Physical capability to perform required tasks in various environmental conditions
• Basic understanding of biosecurity principles in agricultural settings

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain composting rows
• Operate front end loaders and compost row Turner
• Schedule and manage composting cycles, maintaining temperatures (135°F)
• Service, maintain, and disinfect composting equipment between farm uses
• Spread sawdust and manage other composting materials
• Monitor and maintain ammonia (NH3) levels, ensure compost finishes properly per guidelines
• Comply with FDA, USDA regulations and company policies including biosecurity, GMP, and quality control measures
• Coordinate with the Manure Management Plan for proper loadouts
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on composting equipment
• Keep accurate records of composting activities and equipment maintenance
• Collaborate with farm management to optimize composting processes
