At Raytheon, our Bike Shop component of the Hardware Engineering directorate provides rapid‑prototyping and product‑development support for engineering teams, delivering high‑quality prototypes and early‑stage demonstration hardware.

We are seeking a highly skilled Composites Technician to support advanced composite structures, performing fabrication, trimming, bonding, and integration while meeting quality, schedule, and performance goals.

What You Will Do
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications, understanding tolerances, ply schedules, fiber orientations, and surface‑finish requirements.
  • Estimate fabrication tasks (labor hours, material costs, lead times) and identify manufacturability issues and required tooling.
  • Initiate quoting and ordering of raw materials, hardware, and machine tools for each project.
  • Perform hands‑on fabrication in the composites shop, including mold making, vacuum forming, woodworking, silicones, part marking/stencil making, carbon fiber layups, and fiberglass work.
  • Carry out trimming, sanding, bonding, and installation of inserts such as Helicoils and Keenserts, plus assembly operations.
  • Execute wet layup, prepreg layup, bagging, curing, demolding, part trimming, drilling, bonding with adhesives/films, paint/stenciling, and final part finishing.
  • Perform mechanical/electro‑mechanical integration.
  • Conduct final inspection of composite parts and close out projects.
  • Engage in diverse mechanical fabrication tasks on a daily basis.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • AA/AS degree (or equivalent 2‑year post‑high‑school training) and minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a manufacturing or composites shop environment.
  • Experience with composites, woodworking, adhesives, and silicones.
  • Proficiency in reading fabrication drawings.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cohesively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience using 3D CAD programs.

Salary range: 60,000 USD – 114,000 USD. The exact offer depends on experience, location, education, and key skills.
