Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace in Riverside, CA is seeking a seasoned engineer to support composite manufacturing, prototype builds, and technology development within the R&T department. The role emphasizes TRL/MRL gate processes, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to aerospace standards.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands on, industry experience in the field of composite manufacturing, ideally with a strong focus on composite Aerostructures.
  • Preference for knowledge of thermoset and thermoplastic composite material & processing specifications for Aerospace industry.
  • Product development and introduction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and execute prototype and demonstrator builds.
  • Support daily process development with Engineers and Technicians.
  • Assist in developing technologies in line with TRL and MRL gates.
  • Coordinate across Programs, Chief Engineer Office, Aftermarket, manufacturing, facilities, supply chain, test labs, suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with TRL, MRL, EHS, CMS, QMS, PPAP requirements.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement lean manufacturing results and improvements.

This role will be within the R&T department as part of the Engineering organization conducting research and development of primarily but not limited to Composite technologies based in Riverside, CA.

What You Will Do:
  • Utilize manufacturing process experience to provide technical support and executing prototype and demonstrator builds.

  • Working closely with Engineers and Engineering Technicians, supporting daily process development.

  • Support the development of technologies in adherence with TRL and MRL toll gates.

  • Interacting between Engineering groups (Programs,ChiefEngineerOffice,Aftermarket, manufacturing/operations, facilities, supply chain, test labs,suppliersand customers); ensuring on-time and quality execution of materials & process project tasks and deliverables.

  • Ensures adherence to all compliance requirements (TRL, MRL, EHS, CMS, QMS, PPAP etc.).

  • Engages in problem solving initiatives & challenges status quo (e.g.root cause and corrective action investigations, OEE, FPY, customer escapes).

  • Participates in process improvement and continuous improvement activities.

  • Implements results of lean manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

  • 3-5 years of hands on, industry experience in the field of composite manufacturing, ideally with a strong focus on composite Aerostructures.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 58,400 USD - 111,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
