Description
SUMMARY:
The Composites Technician assists in the fabrication and assembly of all plastic properties designed and/or built at Prefix Corporation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the preparation of models to be cast in material determined by the customer or Prefix; this includes splitting the model and prepping the model for the predetermined molding material.
- Assists in the fabrication of fiberglass parts out of epoxy or polyester based laminates.
- Assist in the formation of a variety of plastic sheeting using high heat and vacuum to form a specified plastic around a supplied or an in-house fabricated tool.
- Assist in the formation of acrylics into specified shapes and sizes that are later fit onto a vehicle by a qualified installer.
- Glue up or assist in the gluing up of boards that are used to mill models or tooling for prototype parts and molds.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of plastic model making with 0 to 3 years’ experience. Ability to follow directions and work within predetermined timelines established within the job quote. High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or industrial trade school is preferred. Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time. Incumbent must possess basic hand tools for the position and upgrade such tools as required to complete the tasks assigned.
