Job summary

FMI is seeking an experienced Product Engineer - Composites to join the Advanced Materials group within the Research and Technology team. You will develop and prototype carbon and ceramic composites, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and advance TRL/MRL through rigorous testing and documentation.

Responsibilities include process development, tooling innovation, and production support, while maintaining safety and quality standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with fabrication of composite materials.
• Ability to follow technical direction and communicate results.
• Ability to follow safety practices for handling materials and operating processes.
• Experience writing basic process procedures or instructions.
• Familiarity with reading drawings, procedures, and travelers.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing methods for high temperature thermal protection material systems.
• Assist engineers to solve processing issues and create fixtures and tooling solutions.
• Develop, implement, and sustain policies, standards and procedures for engineering work.
• Adhere to GMP and document activity for traceability.
• Lead design review documentation creation and write technical reports.
• Communicate project objectives and procedures with management and teams.
• Ensure safety and quality standards and certification requirements are met.
