Job summary

Fiber Materials Inc. in Maine is seeking an experienced R&T Engineer to join the Advanced Materials group.

You will lead development, prototyping and processing of carbon and ceramic composites, coordinating with materials and process engineers, project managers, machinists, manufacturing and quality teams. The role covers the full development cycle from basic research to prototype manufacture and test, advancing TRL and MRL.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in composites or related fields.
  • Experience with fabrication of composite materials.
  • Ability to follow technical directions and communicate results.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD design tools.
  • Ability to read drawings, procedures and travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Develops manufacturing methods for high-temperature material systems.
  • Assists engineers to solve processing issues and create tooling solutions.
  • Develops policies and procedures for engineering work.
  • Adheres to GMP and documents activity for traceability.
  • Leads design review documentation and writes technical reports.
  • Produces technical documentation to support project outcomes.
  • Communicates with management and production personnel on project specs and objectives.
  • Ensures safety procedures are followed and compliant.
  • Applies quality standards to meet certification requirements.
