Job summary

Fiber Materials Inc. in Maine seeks an experienced R&T Engineer to join the Advanced Materials group, guiding the development, prototyping, and processing of carbon and ceramic composites from concept through production support.

You will work with materials, process, manufacturing and quality engineers to develop manufacturing methods for high-temperature systems, create tooling, and document activity for traceability while advancing TRL/MRL.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline; mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Fabrication of composite materials experience.
  • Ability to follow safety practices for handling materials and processes.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or CAD tools; ability to read procedures and drawings.
  • Ability to communicate results and work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing methods for high temperature thermal protection material systems.
  • Assist engineers to solve processing issues and create fixtures and tooling.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices and document activity for traceability.
  • Lead design review documentation and technical reports.
  • Provide technical updates and documentation for project parameters.
  • Coordinate with management, production, facilities, and EHS on objectives.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and compliant.
  • Apply quality standards to ensure certification readiness.
