Composite Repair Technician
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Composite Repair Technician for an opportunity in Kinston, NC.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lay out, assemble, pre-fit, and bond a variety of metal, composite, or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins, or equipment.
- Follow engineering and manufacturing specifications and orders to determine parts to be bonded and the temperature and pressure required. Cut parts or materials to size.
- Operate autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete the bonding cycle.
- Sand, burr, and smooth over areas.
- Apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
- Process methods and sequences vary depending on compounds, contours, and lay-up transitions.
- Perform complicated rework or repair as needed.
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with controlled procedures.
- Utilize lay-up tools, including optical and hard tools, in the fabrication of composite and metal assemblies, with appropriate training provided.
- Obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, work orders, and electronic sources.
- Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work, verifying adherence to work instructions and specifications.
- Ensure equipment and tool certification per procedures.
- Control solvents and cleaning solutions used in preparation for bonding and painting, following established procedures.
- Perform routine minor machine maintenance daily.
- Move products within the manufacturing area using shop-assigned equipment and complete necessary transactions for workflow.
- Support continuous flow of products by training and assisting other employees.
- Train to become MVP qualified; additional duties may be assigned with training and certification provided.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Local candidates are strongly preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in composite repair, with aerospace experience required.
- Availability to start as soon as possible.
