Composite Repair Technician

LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Composite Repair Technician for an opportunity in Kinston, NC.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Lay out, assemble, pre-fit, and bond a variety of metal, composite, or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins, or equipment.
  2. Follow engineering and manufacturing specifications and orders to determine parts to be bonded and the temperature and pressure required. Cut parts or materials to size.
  3. Operate autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete the bonding cycle.
  4. Sand, burr, and smooth over areas.
  5. Apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
  6. Process methods and sequences vary depending on compounds, contours, and lay-up transitions.
  7. Perform complicated rework or repair as needed.
  8. Monitor and verify quality in accordance with controlled procedures.
  9. Utilize lay-up tools, including optical and hard tools, in the fabrication of composite and metal assemblies, with appropriate training provided.
  10. Obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, work orders, and electronic sources.
  11. Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work, verifying adherence to work instructions and specifications.
  12. Ensure equipment and tool certification per procedures.
  13. Control solvents and cleaning solutions used in preparation for bonding and painting, following established procedures.
  14. Perform routine minor machine maintenance daily.
  15. Move products within the manufacturing area using shop-assigned equipment and complete necessary transactions for workflow.
  16. Support continuous flow of products by training and assisting other employees.
  17. Train to become MVP qualified; additional duties may be assigned with training and certification provided.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Local candidates are strongly preferred.
  2. 2-5 years of experience in composite repair, with aerospace experience required.
  3. Availability to start as soon as possible.
