Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking an experienced Composite Technician II to fabricate aerospace-grade composite components at Briggs, TX. The role supports primary structures, tanks, and secondary hardware, working from raw fibers through final delivery to integration.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in aerospace composite manufacturing, with expertise in layup, bonding, cure processes, and a strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of composite manufacturing experience (aerospace preferred).
• Advanced layup, bonding, and cure processes expertise.
• Demonstrated ability to build flight-critical or high-complexity hardware.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and meticulous craftsmanship.
• Proficient with pneumatic tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment.
• Experience in AS9100 or similarly regulated environment.
• Proven ability to mentor junior team members.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fabrication of complex aerospace-grade composite structures.
• Execute advanced layups and structural builds with minimal supervision.
• Perform advanced vacuum bagging and cure cycle operations.
• Identify scarf back plies and perform structural repairs.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing discrepancies and support root cause analysis.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Ensure AS9100 material handling compliance.
• Mentor and support development of junior technicians.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.
• Maintain shop organization and PPE compliance.
