Job summary

Lumilens in San Jose is seeking a hands-on Component Process Engineer to serve as the primary substrate engineering interface between hardware design teams, package manufacturing, and global suppliers. You will advance FR4/PCB technology from new developments through supplier qualification and provide DFM guidance.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in FR4 substrate or PCB development, is fluent in English, and can lead DFM/DFT/DFR efforts, quality control, failure analysis, and reliability tests.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Material, Chemistry or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of FR4 substrate/PCB development or manufacturing experience.
• Familiar with mSAP and Any-Layer HDI processes for high-speed optics.
• Experience with PCB test methodologies and reliability assessments.
• FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, 8D knowledge and English communication.
• Willingness to travel 30–50% to Asian countries.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop and qualify FR4/PCB substrate suppliers worldwide.
• Lead DFM/DFT/DFR of PCB substrates, risk analysis and mitigation with suppliers.
• Lead FR4/PCB quality control, failure analysis and reliability tests.
• Engage with packaging production teams during SMT, die attach, wire bond, testing.
