Job summary

Framatome North America in Lynchburg, VA seeks a Component Engineer to support the repair, replacement, and improvement of mechanical and structural components in nuclear plants. You’ll work on design, analysis, and field implementation with oversight from senior engineers.

The role offers exposure to ASME Codes, materials engineering, welding, fabrication, and plant outage execution, with opportunities for hands-on projects and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Exposure to CAD modeling and CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to travel periodically to customer sites and nuclear power plants.
• EIT/FE certification or the desire to obtain it.
• Engineering internship or cooperative education experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard engineering assignments in design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, and field task execution.
• Develop technical evaluations and design documentation.
• Prepare design drawings, assembly drawings, installation packages, and technical reports.
• Assist in developing work packages for plant outages and field implementation.
• Learn and apply ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements and ASTM material specifications.
• Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary project meetings.
• Support manufacturing and fabrication by resolving technical questions and fabrication issues.
• Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, designers, quality personnel, manufacturing, and field services to deliver projects.
• Evaluate existing plant equipment and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
• Support field activities during outage installations.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge through training and mentorship.
