Job summary

TekWissen Group is seeking a Component Engineer IV for its Endovascular Robotics division in Newton, MA. You will join R&D to advance a next‑gen robotic platform, working hands-on with complex electro‑mechanical assemblies and contributing from prototype to verification builds in a regulated medical device environment.

Qualifications

• Must have 10+ years in complex electromechanical system R&D environment.
• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Robotics or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience in heavily regulated industries such as medical devices or aerospace.
• Proven hands-on experience in assembly and test of electromechanical systems; CAD proficiency desired.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and upgrade robotic systems for R&D under design control processes.
• Lead system configuration management to ensure traceability for R&D and clinical activities.
• Perform hands-on system troubleshooting with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and release test methods, protocols, and reports via ECOs.
• Support procurement, BOM planning, and future builds; propose process improvements.

Description:

Company Background:

Client's, Endovascular Robotics (EVR) division, is a global technology leader in robotic-assisted vascular interventions. The company's CorPath system is the first FDA-cleared medical device to bring robotic-assisted precision to neurovascular, percutaneous coronary and peripheral interventions. EVR is advancing the field of interventional medicine with robotics through improvements to procedural control, precision, and workflow.

Position Summary:

• The Senior Mechatronics Integration Engineer will be a part of the R&D organization and an important contributor to the realization of the next generation robotic platform that will change the future of healthcare.


• You will be a visible technical resource working on development of complex electro-mechanical assemblies.


• There will be direct contribution from prototype to verification builds and tests within a regulated medical device development environment.


• This role is suited for a hands-on, senior-level R&D engineer with multi-disciplinary knowledge (Electrical, Software, and Mechanical) proficient in integrating complex electromechanical systems and experience in troubleshooting when needed, sustenance of robotic systems, perform configuration management, manage component inventories, and advise on design improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains and upgrade fleet of robotic systems for R&D development, under the design control processes


• Performs system configuration management to support system traceability for various R&D and clinical activities


• Leads hands-on, disciplined system troubleshooting activities working closely with different disciplines


• Authors relevant documents related to process improvements


• Develops test methods, protocols, execute tests, prepare reports and release them via ECOs


• Supports system builds, inventory management, and procurement activities


• Proposes improvements in the process and reliability of the system.


• Leads/supports detailed planning (BOM, procurement, etc.) and the future builds.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years work experience in complex electromechanical system R&D environment


• Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a close field is desired.


• Associate's degree with exceptional experience is acceptable.


• Experience in heavily-regulated industries such as medical device, or aerospace is required


• Must have proven track record of hands-on experience in assembly and test of electro-mechanical systems


• Experience using, modifying, or programing in MATLAB, Simulink, or LabView is required.


• Ability to deconstruct complex problems into manageable components to derive effective solutions is required.


• Experience in fixture and process validation is desired.


• Must have experience in cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership


• Must have experience in project management including task timeline estimation and work breakdown structures


• Knowledge of industry best practices for development of complex electromechanical systems


• Previous experience in design transfer/new product introduction desired


• Demonstrated CAD proficiency desired. Solidworks preferred


• A working knowledge of DFM/A, Six Sigma, and statistical tolerance analysis is desired


• Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECOs is desired


• Must have experience developing production level and support documentation including bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions.


• Proficiency in developing test methods, protocols, performing tests and releasing relevant documentation.


• Able to execute assigned projects and duties with minimal supervision


• Outstanding documentation and communication skills required


• Proficiency in using MS Office required
