Job summary

F5 Inc. is seeking a Component Engineer III to manage component lifecycles, address obsolescence, and ensure long-term product continuity across a global supply chain. The role balances cost, risk, and performance while working with cross-functional teams across hardware, engineering, and manufacturing.

You will independently drive mitigation strategies, support ECOs, and contribute to sustaining design updates in a high-reliability hardware environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 4–7+ years in component engineering, sustaining engineering, or hardware development.
• Strong understanding of electronic components (semiconductors, passives, connectors, power devices).
• Proven experience managing component lifecycle risks and executing mitigation strategies.
• Ability to independently evaluate component equivalency and drive technical decisions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own lifecycle health for assigned components and drive obsolescence mitigation strategies.
• Lead resolution of component-related production and field issues with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Quality, Design, and Manufacturing to address reliability concerns and drive closure.
• Provide component engineering guidance for ECOs, sustaining design updates, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate and support validation and qualification activities, ensuring compliance with standards.
