Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Component Engineer to own the end-to-end lifecycle of EEEE components across programs. You will select, qualify, test, and troubleshoot parts while coordinating with suppliers and managing documentation from SCDs to failure analysis.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years in component engineering, strong communication, and knowledge of obsolescence tools. U.S. citizenship and secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in Component Engineering or related experience with a Bachelors; no Master’s with experience.
• Strong communication and technical writing with cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging.
• Knowledge of obsolescence tools (Silicon Expert, IHS BOM Intelligence).
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a secret DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end lifecycle of EEEE components—from selection to failure analysis.
• Prepare and maintain Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs).
• Evaluate suppliers, review test reports, and recommend qualified vendors.
• Review and approve engineering drawings and related documentation for subcontractor components.
• Develop component qualification test plans and manage part qualifications with third-party test houses.
• Develop component screenings for parts as directed by PM Process plan.
• Research PCN impacts and obsolescence on programs.
• Lead or support issue resolution on the Parts, Materials, and Process board and guide failure analysis in EEEE domain.

You will be the Component Engineer on the LockheedMartin Missiles & Fire Control team. Our team ensures that every component used on LockheedMartin Missiles & Fire Control programs meets rigorous customer contract requirements and internal quality standards, from initial selection through final verification and failure analysis.

What you will be Doing:

As the Component Engineer you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of EEEE components—selecting, qualifying, testing, and troubleshooting parts while driving documentation, supplier coordination, and issue resolution across the program. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Conducting or participating in the selection, evaluation, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and electro-optical components.
2. Preparing and maintaining Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs) and other baseline engineering drawings.
3. Evaluating suppliers, reviewing test reports, and recommending qualified vendors for EEEE parts.
4. Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, SCDs, and related documentation for subcontractor-supplied components.
5. Develop component qualification test plans and manage part qualifications with third party Test houses as needed.
6. Develop component screenings for parts as directed by Parts Management Process plan.
7. Research and determine impact of PCN’s and obsolescence on the programs.
8. Leading or supporting issue resolution on the Parts, Materials, and Process (PMP) board and guiding failure-analysis activities within the EEEE domain.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Component Engineering or component-related experience with Bachelors degree, No experience with Master's Degree.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with customers and cross-functional teammates.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging.
• Knowledge of component engineering obsolescence tools (Silicon Expert, IHS BOM Intelligence).
• Must be a US Citizen, must possess interim or active secret DoD security clearance.

Desired Skills

• Experience supporting customer meetings to include the Parts, Materials and Processes Compliance Board (PMPCB).
• Good understanding of EEE parts performance requirements and specifications
• Familiarity with military specifications and engineering requirements, such as Mil-STD-883, Mil-STD-750, Mil-PRF-19500, Mil-PRF-38534, Mil-PRF-38535, Mil-PRF-123, Mil-PRF-55365, Mil-PRF-55342. Mil-PRF-55365.
• Experience with EEE parts testing, failure analysis, and non-conformance resolution
• Experience in participating in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00
