Job summary
SGS Consulting is seeking a Component Engineer to own qualification and supply-risk management of electrical, electromechanical, and optoelectronic components for RL hardware products. This role bridges EE design, sourcing, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to qualify parts and reduce supply risks from NPI through sustaining.
The candidate will review and qualify components, run second- and multi-sourcing, determine criticality, manage new part requests, and support ECNs and PCNs across NPI
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Materials, or related field required.
- 5+ years in component/hardware engineering, supplier quality, or supply-chain roles.
- Experience with qualification/reliability methods and data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities
- Review, qualify, and approve electrical / EM / optoelectronic components for production.
- Execute second- and multi-sourcing to de-risk supply and reduce cost.
- Determine component criticality and define qual path with EE reviewers; manage New Part Requests.
- Track ECNs and PCNs across NPI and sustaining products; perform up-screening and derating.
- Own advanced BOM risk reviews and maintain EE BOM integrity across portfolios.
- Partner with GSM and Cost teams; support supplier inquiries and shortages.
