M&T Bank in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Compliance Testing Analyst II to support testing across Mortgage, Consumer, Commercial, and Business Banking portfolios. The role focuses on planning, executing, and interpreting control and substantive testing in a risk-based framework within a corporate compliance environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, assist in risk assessments, and mentor junior staff while maintaining awareness of regulatory requirements and internal control

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a business related curriculum and a minimum 2 years' relevant work experience (Compliance, Audit or Risk Management) or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience including 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Fundamental understanding of financial services functions.
• Financial services industry experience, particularly within Mortgage, Consumer, Commercial, or Business Banking lending activities is highly preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, having the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Possess regulatory knowledge related to aspects of the portfolio.
• Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.

• Interface with multiple organizational layers to obtain information related to processes and controls.
• Perform compliance testing in accordance with department and professional standards.
• Plan and execute control and substantive testing; assist in reviewing testing and evaluate results for issues.
• Organize and complete work within established timeframes under supervision.
• Participate in collaborative testing discussions with management.
• Serve as a resource to junior compliance team members.
• Review test findings with management to confirm validity of issues.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements for testing.
• Provide risk-focused input on testing approach.
• Document higher-level complexity test scripts.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
