Job summary

Abode, a major nonprofit focused on ending homelessness in the Bay Area, seeks a Compliance Specialist for San Francisco County. Under supervision, you will support documentation for emergency relief funding and build expertise in program policy to ensure funding requests are processed timely.

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in comparable work.
  • Occasional travel locally for training, and meetings is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison between external partner agencies involved in emergency relief funding requests and Abode Services.
  • Reviews incoming funding applications and supporting documentation for program compliance.
  • Works with community partners to request additional documentation as needed and resolve discrepancies regarding funding disbursements.
  • Coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure funding requests are processed by the required deadline.
  • Works closely with the Abode Services Finance Department to coordinate payments.
  • Monitors county and program databases daily to update participant service transactions.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation reports regarding funding disbursements for auditing purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Compliance Department.

Description

Abode, one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Compliance Specialist for our programs in San Francisco County.

About the Role: Under general supervision of the Compliance Coordinator, the Compliance Specialist provides comprehensive support with documentation for Abode’s emergency relief funding program in San Francisco. The Compliance Specialist is expected to form expertise in program policy and assist internal and external stakeholders with adhering to procedures and ensuring funding requests are processed in a timely manner. The Specialist will be one of the main contacts for emergency relief fund applications and coordination of funding disbursement.

How You Make An Impact

How You Meet Qualifications

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in social work, public policy, or a related field. Professional experience and track record can be substituted for a degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft systems and Salesforce preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, including organizing data and creating pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of San Francisco housing market and geography preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral, and business communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and/or with remote teams via technology.
