Job summary

Mission Staffing is seeking a technical writer to draft, update, and maintain policies and procedures for our legal and compliance functions. You will translate complex laws into clear policies, document monitoring processes, and collaborate with Legal and HR to ensure accuracy and consistency.

The role is fully remote in the United States, requiring strong writing skills and the ability to manage multiple documents with tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Draft, update, and maintain policies and procedures supporting the company’s legal and compliance functions.
• Research applicable laws and regulations and translate them into clear, actionable written policies.
• Document internal monitoring systems and the procedures surrounding them.
• Write and revise HR policies and procedures in partnership with the HR team.
• Review existing policies to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or outdated language.
• Partner with the head of legal compliance and other stakeholders to gather information and confirm the accuracy of documentation.
• Maintain consistent formatting, version control, and organization across all policy documents.
• Incorporate feedback from Legal, HR, and business leaders through multiple rounds of review.
• Assist with ad hoc legal and compliance documentation projects as needed.

Requirements

• 3-8 years of experience writing policies and procedures for legal and compliance functions within a large organization.
• Backgrounds in financial services, a law firm, oil and gas, or supply chain. Candidates from retail or e-commerce will not be considered.
• Experience writing policies tied to regulatory requirements, internal monitoring or controls, and/or HR.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to explain complex requirements in clear, concise language.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with Legal, HR, and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
