Job summary

City of New York's Department of Correction seeks a Compliance Investigator within the Office of Policy and Compliance to lead field investigations and readiness audits across facilities. You will assess compliance with agency policies, prepare clear investigative reports, and flag safety or policy risks to leadership.

Under the Director and Deputy Director, duties include coordinating inspections with SCOC, drafting responses to oversight requests, and maintaining knowledge of regulations.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent with four years of experience in related fields.
• Baccalaureate degree or education/experience equivalent.
• Ability to clear a background investigation and possess a valid NYS driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and coordinate field investigations of correctional facilities to assess operational compliance.
• Support annual inspections of Horizon and Crossroads facilities to ensure alignment with state requirements.
• Prepare clear investigative reports and audit findings.
• Identify recurring compliance issues and recommend operational improvements.
• Escalate immediate safety or policy violations observed during visits.
