City of New York's Department of Correction seeks a Compliance Investigator within the Office of Policy and Compliance to lead field investigations and readiness audits across facilities. The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed at moving the city towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
The Office of Policy and Compliance (OPC) serves as the primary liaison with the New York State Commission of Correction (SCOC), coordinating agency responses to reports, audits, evaluations, and Minimum variance requests. OPC conducts audits to monitor facility compliance with federal and state court orders, consent decrees, and settlement agreements, including specialized housing unit conditions. Additionally, the unit prepares executive compliance reports and provides technical assistance and operational guidance to DOC senior staff and facility management to ensure ongoing adherence to oversight mandates.
