A key position at a federal agency focused on hazardous materials safety, requiring compliance inspections, incident investigations, and representation before authorities. The purpose of this position is to develop the experience and skills necessary to perform compliance inspections, evaluate intrastate and interstate hazardous materials operators subject to Federal authority, investigate hazardous materials incidents and failures, and represent the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety in matters related to hazardous materials safety before federal, state, and industry authorities.
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience requirements for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
GS-07 Qualifications:

Education: At least 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement, which includes:

GS-09 Qualifications:

Education: 2 years of progressively higher graduate education leading to a master's degree or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. A combination of education and experience is also acceptable, supported by your resume and transcripts.
GS-11 Qualifications:

Education: 3 years of graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. A combination of education and experience is also acceptable, supported by your resume and transcripts.
GS-12 Qualifications:
Note: Education alone does not qualify at this level; experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Experience can include paid, unpaid, volunteer, and service work, which helps build relevant competencies. All qualifying experience will be considered.
