A prominent federal agency is seeking candidates for a role focused on hazardous materials safety. The position involves compliance inspections, evaluating operators, and investigating incidents. Candidates must possess relevant experience or education, with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory knowledge. The purpose of this position is to develop the experience and skills necessary to perform compliance inspections; evaluate intrastate and interstate hazardous materials operators subject to Federal authority; investigate hazardous materials incidents and failures; and represent the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety in matters related to hazardous materials safety before federal, state, and industry authorities.
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience requirements for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
GS-07 Qualifications: You must have at least one year of experience at the GS-05 level, including:

Having at least 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement, such as being in the upper third of your class or having a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Combination of graduate education and experience is also acceptable if supported by your resume and transcripts.
GS-09 Qualifications: At least one year of experience at the GS-07 level, including:

Two years of graduate education leading to a master's degree or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. Combination of education and experience is acceptable if supported by your resume and transcripts.
GS-11 Qualifications: At least one year of experience at the GS-09 level, including:
OR
Three years of graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Combination of education and experience is acceptable if supported by your resume and transcripts.
GS-12 Qualifications: At least one year of experience at the GS-11 level, including:
Note: Education alone does not qualify for GS-12; experience is required.
