Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of compliance audit engagements from planning through final report issuance.

  • Assign and manage audit workload across staff to ensure timely completion.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop audit staff with feedback and training.
  • Monitor engagement progress, deadlines, and team productivity.
  • Escalate issues and coordinate with fund offices, collections, and counsel as needed.
  • Prepare and review billing related to audit engagements.
  • Support process improvements and automation of audit tools.

Interns will have the opportunity to work from employer locations, Legacy offices and remotely, as scheduling allows.Position Overview:The Compliance Audit Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and oversight of compliance audit engagements for fringe benefit funds. This role ensures employers are accurately reporting and contributing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements and related plan documents.The Manager oversees multiple engagements of varying complexity while maintaining audit quality, consistency, and timeliness. This position also manages and develops audit staff, coordinates workflow, and serves as a key liaison between internal teams, fund offices, and legal counsel.Success in this role requires balancing audit quality with operational efficiency, including effective use of resources, technology, and audit tools to continuously improve processes and outcomes.Job Responsibilities:Oversee all phases of compliance audit engagements from planning through final report issuanceReview complex or high-risk audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to fund requirements and collection policiesAssign and manage audit workload across staff to ensure timely completion and proper resource utilizationSupervise, mentor, and develop audit staff, including performance feedback, coaching, and trainingMonitor engagement progress, deadlines, and overall team productivityIdentify issues requiring expanded scope or escalation and coordinate with fund office, collections, and legal counsel as neededServe as a primary point of contact for employers, addressing questions, discrepancies, and sensitive matters professionallyPrepare and review billing related to audit engagementsAnalyze performance metrics and identify trends to improve audit effectiveness and coverageSupport process improvements, including implementation of audit tools, automation, and standardized proceduresContribute to the development of audit practices, training materials, and long-term departmental strategiesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field requiredMinimum of six years of compliance audit experience, preferably within union, fringe benefit fund, or payroll-based environmentsProven experience managing audit teams and reviewing complex engagementsStrong understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements, collection policies, and related plan documentsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with audit/data analysis toolsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and handle sensitive discussionsDemonstrated leadership, decision-making, and accountabilityDetail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple engagements in a deadline-driven environmentValid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; local and occasional out-of-state travel requiredBenefitsGreat opportunity for growth within the firmOpportunity to work closely with entire compliance audit departmentCompetitive benefits package including vacation time, sick leave, holidays, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), long/short-term disability, life insurance and a flexible spending account programPaid Parental leaveDress for your day attire – jeans in the office and professional attire at clientsReimbursement for CFE review course and exam feesBonus when successfully completing the CFE examPayment for professional membership costsEmployee referral bonusFun firm sponsored social events
