Overview

Compensation: $59,000 - $80,000 based on experience and credentials

Location Type: Remote (Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin only)

Position Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

It is required to have experience in reviewing regulations, interpreting regulatory requirements, identifying areas needing correction action to achievecompliance, and preventing potential violations.

The Compliance Advisor is responsible for ensuring an organization adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and standards. They monitor regulatory developments, staying informed about industry regulations, providing regulatory guidance while strategizing through collaboration with other departments to ensure adherence to regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Evaluate each business units’ policies to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and confirming that their procedures align with the policies
  • Provide compliance-related information and answer questions from other business units
  • Identify and assess key compliance risks to ensure ongoing internal controls and newly developed products, processes and services have appropriate controls to mitigate eminent risk
  • Audit annual compliance training
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development Department to ensure all regulatory training for staff and volunteers is completed
  • Ensure regulatory changes or updates to policies and procedures are clearly communicated
  • Follow up to ensure new procedures are understood and implemented
  • Assist with collecting compliance data from business units for use by internal and external auditors
  • Administer compliance management system software and maintains user database
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise
  • Attend educational events to l increase professional knowledge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
  • 3+ years of experience in regulatory or operations compliance
  • Credit Union Compliance Officer (CUCO) or NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO) designation preferred
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) to interact with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
