Job summary

Qualifications

  • Vocational certificate in welding, maintenance, electrical, or related field is preferred.
  • Ability to take and pass internal testing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on manufacturing equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing belts as needed.
  • Identify root causes of breakdowns and repair equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Record damaged or worn parts and order replacements; install parts.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Maintain shop areas, inventory, and supplies; organize tools.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance.
  • Collaborate with department heads on product modifications and testing requirements.
  • Propose and implement improvements based on tests and feedback.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Maintenance Technician performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, changing belts machinery as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working condition
  • Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime for machine
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as needed
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required
  • Make necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational certificate in appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to take and pass internal required testing
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipmentGood computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) as business need requires
  • Ability to work in cold/ humid or hot/ dusty environments as needed
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, etc. with ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
