Job summary

Vail Resorts in Crested Butte, CO, is hiring for winter season 2026/27 for Alpine/Freestyle/Snowboard coaches and more. Starting wage $21.25–$27.00 per hour, full-time and part-time options, housing available, and wellness benefits.

You will teach skiing, ensure safety, meet PSIA/USSA certifications, and deliver high-quality guest service. Applicants must be 18+, fluent in English, and able to work holidays. Join a team with comprehensive training, 401(k), and employee passes.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Excellent guest service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and in inclement weather.
• PSIA/AASI Level 1 and/or USSA/FIS Level 100 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uphold guest and personal safety on varied terrain at high altitude.
• Instruct skiing to students at prescribed levels, both physically and verbally.
• Match athletes to skier levels and adjust as needed in collaboration with supervisors.
• Assist guests to load and unload the chairlift.

Alpine/Freestyle/Snowboard Competition coaches work to provide quality ski/ride instruction and coaching of athlete development to groups and individuals in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines. We are an in-house team, with foundation support and tremendous growth opportunities.

Job Specifications:

• Starting Wage: $21.25/hr - $27.00/hr

Job Responsibilities:

• Upholding the highest levels of guest and personal safety on varied terrain at high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions.
• Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing to students, both physically and verbally.
• Ensuring that athletes are matched to appropriate skier skill level and working with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary.
• Assisting guests to load and unload the chairlift.

Job Requirements:

• PSIA/AASI Level 1 and/or USSA/FIS Level 100 certification
• High School or Equivalent Education
• Attend Ski and Ride training sessions
• Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
• Must have excellent guest service skills
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must work well in a team
• Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment
• Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions
• Must be available to work holidays and weekends
• Must be able to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring
• Experience coaching experience of winter sports athletes of all ages
• Previous ski/snowboard coaching experience
• Knowledge of local area/resort

The expected pay range is$21.25/hr - $27.00/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
