Job summary

Crested Butte Mountain Resort is hiring Competition Teams Coaches. This winter seasonal role requires coaching safety-focused ski instruction for athletes of varying ages, with emphasis on matching skill levels and maintaining high safety standards.

The position requires PSIA/AASI Level 1 or USSA/FIS Level 100 certification, strong English skills, and the ability to work outdoors in alpine conditions. Housing support and seasonal benefits are available.

Qualifications

• PSIA/AASI Level 1 and/or USSA/FIS Level 100 certifications required.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Attend Ski and Ride training sessions.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Excellent guest service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Uphold guest and personal safety on varied terrain at high altitude.
• Clearly and accurately instruct skiing levels to students.
• Match athletes to appropriate skier level and collaborate with supervisors for changes.
• Assist guests to load and unload the chairlift.

Alpine/Freestyle/Snowboard Competition coaches work to provide quality ski/ride instruction and coaching of athlete development to groups and individuals in a safe and fun manner while upholding all Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and Company guidelines. We are an in‑house team, with foundation support and tremendous growth opportunities.

Job Specifications:

• Starting Wage: $21.25/hr - $27.00/hr
• Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027
• Shift Type: Full Time and Part Time hours available
• Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age
• Housing Availability: Yes

Job Responsibilities:

• Upholding the highest levels of guest and personal safety on varied terrain at high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions.
• Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing to students, both physically and verbally.
• Ensuring that athletes are matched to appropriate skier skill level and working with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary.
• Assisting guests to load and unload the chairlift.

Job Requirements:

• PSIA/AASI Level 1 and/or USSA/FIS Level 100 certification
• High School or Equivalent Education
• Attend Ski and Ride training sessions
• Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
• Must have excellent guest service skills
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must work well in a team
• Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment
• Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions
• Must be available to work holidays and weekends
• Must be able to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring
• Experience coaching experience of winter sports athletes of all ages
• Previous ski/snowboard coaching experience
• Knowledge of local area/resort

The expected pay range is$21.25/hr - $27.00/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
