Job summary

Peoria Area Veterinary Group is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Dunlap, IL. This part-time role supports doctors and technicians, assists with treatments and patient care, and delivers friendly client service to pet owners.

You will work closely with a compassionate team, handle animal restraints, maintain records, and help manage schedules and invoices while contributing to a positive hospital environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other), preferred
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve
• Ability to lift and restrain pets up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Animal handling and restraint
• Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures
• Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record
• Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
• Restock and organize medical supplies
• Deliver exceptional client service to pet owners in a polite and timely manner, in person and over the phone
• Schedule and confirm appointments, maintain accurate client and patient records, and provide treatment estimates and invoices
• Process financial transactions accurately
• Perform opening and closing procedures, end-of-day reports, and deposits
• Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with clients, doctors, and veterinary team
