Job summary

Pekin Veterinary Clinic, part of PetVet Care Centers, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team in Pekin, Illinois. The role supports veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including patient care, equipment sanitation, and clerical duties.

Qualified candidates will be 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and hold CVT with an active Illinois license. Schedule: 7:45 AM–6 PM, four days weekly.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).
• Surgical proficiency and experience assisting with surgical procedures.
• Must hold an active Illinois Veterinary Technician license.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, weigh and record vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and medications as directed by licensed staff.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications or patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and keep records updated.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation.
